From Fintech to eCommerce: Navigating a UX career transition
After a decade immersed in the world of Fintech UX, I decided to embark on a new adventure: transitioning into the dynamic world of eCommerce. It wasn’t a seamless transition, but it has been a rewarding journey of growth and adaptation.
In Fintech, my focus was on precision, security, and regulatory compliance. I honed my skills in designing seamless experiences for complex financial transactions. However, the eCommerce world presented a different set of challenges.

Suddenly, my focus shifted to understanding user emotions, driving discovery, and crafting persuasive experiences. Metrics transformed from task completion rates to conversion rates and customer retention. This demanded a significant shift in my approach, requiring me to learn new tools, understand evolving user behaviors, and adapt to a faster-paced, more experimental environment.
There were moments of self-doubt, of course. Would my Fintech expertise translate? Could I thrive in this new arena? But with each challenge, I embraced the opportunity for growth. I immersed myself in eCommerce best practices, studied successful platforms, and even took on projects at a lower rate to build my confidence and expand my skill set.
